AQWA’s mission is to promote the visibility and empowerment of Asian and Pacific Islander queer, lesbian women and transgender individuals and to build a supportive, progressive community through social, political and educational activism. We are a network of Asian and Pacific Islander queer, lesbian and transgender individuals in the greater Los Angeles area. Our purpose is to create a sense of community, to increase our visibility and to build power within the API LGBTIQ community for social justice and equal treatment of our community through political organizing and conducting public education to combat racism, homophobia/heterosexism, sexism and all forms of oppression.
Barangay LA is dedicated to providing a supportive environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning Filipinos; to meet and discuss concerns relevant to being Filipino and LGBTQ; to foster positive self-esteem; and to advocate on behalf of its members and the LGBTQ community of Los Angeles.

Chinese Rainbow Association (CRA) is a gay Chinese social support organization based in Los Angeles, California. CRA was established by volunteers to meet the unique needs of the gay Chinese community in Southern California in 1996. Our mission is to promote friendship and unity, provide assistance, and foster social and political awareness among the gay Chinese. Most of our members are gay Chinese and many came originally from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and other parts of the world. CRA is striving to become a home away from home to our members, especially to new comers (new immigrants and those newly out of closet). We have also been working with many local and international gay organizations to coordinate our efforts to advance our common causes over the years. CRA organizes a monthly meeting/party usually on the last Saturday of every month. We also sponsor other fun and interesting events. The official functions at the monthly meetings are conducted in Mandarin and English. We welcome gay Chinese and everyone else who supports our cause.

Satrang is a cultural, social, and support organization providing a safe space to empower and advocate for the rights of the South Asian LGBTIQQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans*, Intersex, Queer and Questioning) community in Southern California through education, networking, and outreach. Satrang works toward ending gender and sexuality based prejudice.

Women-of-Trikone is a list-serve for queer women of South Asian descent from the Bay Area interested in building a strong community, engaging in discussions, networking, sharing news and organizing/advertising events. Allies who identify as women and queer are welcome as well. Currently, we have over 150 members.

Founded in 1990, the Gay Asian & Pacific Islander Men of New York (GAPIMNY) has provided a safe and supportive social, political, and educational space for gay, bisexual, and questioning men and transgender people of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage in the Greater New York Metropolitan Area. Meetings are held on the third Friday of each month at The LGBT Community Center. GAPIMNY is a membership-based organization whose goal is to empower Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Asian and Pacific Islander’s through a range of social, educational, peer-support, cultural, and political activities. We work in coalition with other community organizations to help educate the API ethnic and LGBT communities on issues of race, sexuality, gender, and health.

Massachusetts Area South Asian Lambda Association (MASALA) is a social group based in Boston, that provides a safe and supportive environment to New England based Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning South Asians (people from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Tibet; and from the global South Asian Diaspora). MASALA is an avenue where distinctions of social class, status, religious affiliations and regional identities dissolve while cultural richness, linguistic diversity and individuality are maintained to inform, enrich and empower. MASALA also takes pride in its cross alliance with organizations in the Boston area which strive against social taboos, ignorance, phobia and help foster general awareness in the realm of public health, fighting HIV and domestic violence to name a few. MASALA’s events are open to all unless otherwise specified who believe they can contribute towards a more tolerant society that embraces differences and respects individuality.
Freedom, Inc is a grassroots organization with a vision of creating and building a world we want to live in. Starting as the Asian Freedom Project in 2000, it created youth-led collective learning groups to organize and mobilize on issues that affected their daily lives.
In 2003, Freedom, Inc became an official non-profit organization. Since then, our work has grown to include people from other communities. Our mission is to engage low- to no-income communities of color to end violence against women folks, gender non-conforming folks, and young folks, which bring about deep social, political, cultural, and economic change. We organize around the root causes of violence, creating new definitions and solutions, and empowering all community members as agents of change to inspire and restore power of those most affected. We do this through leadership development and community organizing, in ways that are language-gender-generation and culture-specific to women, gender non-conforming, and youth, in African American and Southeast Asian families.
